Travel Light – The Buddhist Philosophy As you can see we here at Topbike follow our own philosophy and travel light!
In actual fact I reckon if I could cut out the following I could take about 5 kg of luggage:
Bike and bike stuff
Phones/chargers
Computers/chargers
Navigation devices/chargers
Cameras/chargers
Printed matter
See my moan about chargers (they are almost as evil as ink cartridges) and for sure going to confuse some future archaeologist who will dig up the 1000s of remnants of very slightly different chargers.
Naturally Betty would still need well over her 10kg allotment.
Anyway my next campaign is to enable airlines to carry bikes as some sort of environment credit as it is assumed that the person travelling with bicycle will then create less pollution in their final destination (unless of course that person is competing in the Tour de France, more on the topic of ‘Le Tour’ and superfluous vehicles at a later date).
For now we have checked into base in Italy, albeit a short time (2nights) as David has now headed to France for about 8 days doing Le Tour reconnaissance, whilst Emma and Betty remain at base, catching up with the locals.
